InformationHidden Glade is a fantasy
webcomic about two humans and a "woodsprite," living in the suburbs of
a great city, their neighbors and acquaintances, their experiences, concerns and
lives, as ancient wonders crash against the shores of reality in various
different ways. You could leave it
at that. Hidden Glade is also a
humor strip. Often it is quite
silly. This is enough for many
people. And, Hidden Glade is also a
story strip, telling a continuing narrative that connects them all together in
order. That's why it says "To
Be Continued..." at the bottom of each installment, even in those instances
when each strip doesn't have something directly to do with the previous.
The story is told, in the general case, in "real time," so when
there is a week between the release of new installments, the characters are also
all a week older, and have known each other for another week.
Whenever this is not true, for some minor story arc, it should be
obvious. Some don't want anything
more than this. And also, Hidden Glade is
symbolic. Of what, well, I refuse
to say! Several things.
Different people will see different things in it.
There is never an obvious subtext, despite what some might think.
But whatever it is you see in it, if you saw it, it works, even if it
isn't what I meant. It is just the
way it is. And that's all it has to
be. And additionally, Hidden
Glade is a weird kind of art. Maybe. There will be more characters,
but in general the strip is about these three: Aaron is an adult male
human, living in the suburbs of the city, to which he travels every day as part
of his job. He doesn't like it
much, but there are worse things. (One
of the worst lives in his backyard.) There
are things about him that have not been said. Stella is an adult female
human, next-door neighbor to Aaron. She
is a university student, and as yet has had little exposure to what Aaron calls
the "real world." She
seems to do some sort of journalism for the school paper.
She also writes for her own enjoyment, and hopes to be published someday.
She has some qualities about which I have not spoken. And Milen... Milen is a woodsprite. She is quite indescribable. |
